Autumn conference 2021 on performativity and resonance

Friday, 15 October 2021

This year's autumn conference of the Graduate School 27 to 29 October 2021, is dedicated to "Text, Music, and Image-Object as Counterparts in Resonant Relationships". Scholars from the fields of (ancient) literary studies, archaeology, art history, musicology, theology and sociology will analyse the relationships between artifact or product (text, core, film, ritual prescription) which exists in a rather fixed form, and its reception, interpretation, and repetition. The experience of the receiving, producing, interpreting subject (practitioner response, reader response) are multiple, unpredictable, and transformative, and always remain subjective experience. Aspects of performativity of any kind of (artistic) expressions and their relation to the subject form the background of understanding, whereby a connection to 'resonance' as a relational concept is possible. The extended version of the outline of the conference you can find here.
The conference is the first event after one and a half years where the IGS members meet in person. Those young researchers who were awarded the PhD last year, those who started in autumn 2020 and the new cohort of 2021 will be welcomed and present results and starting projects.

We are glad that event takes place as a meeting in person and are looking forward to welcoming you all at Graz!
